Arland A. Olson, 95 of West Fargo, North Dakota died Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Eventide Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, North Dakota.
Arland was born on February 22, 1924 the son of Herman and Della (Walberg) Olson in rural Sheldon, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Sheldon, graduating from Sheldon High School in 1942. Arland attended NDSU for a short time, before returning to Sheldon to take over the family farm. He was united in marriage to Elsie Carter on July 25, 1948 in Lisbon, North Dakota. They made their home on the farm until they retired from farming in 1990. They moved to Kindred, where Arland worked for Carmen Lynnes and Rustad’s family farms. He also worked at Kindred True Value for a period of time. Elsie passed away in 2001 and Arland continued to live in Kindred until 2010, when he moved to Cooperative Living Center in West Fargo.
Arland enjoyed making wood acrobat toys, whistles and high flyers. He also enjoyed playing pool and having coffee with his friends. Arland treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Arland is survived by his son, Warren (Shirley) Olson of Hawley, MN; three daughters, Debbie (Rod) Garland of Oakes, ND; Heidi (Allan) Krauter of Eagan, MN; Holly (Dale) Rosenkranz of Harwood, ND; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Olson of St. Cloud, MN; sixteen grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Ardith (Donald) Baer of Vermillion, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.
Arland was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elsie, son, Scott, brothers, Howard and Marvin, sister, Belvedere Warner.
