Dale C. Froemke

Dale C Froemke, 84, of Lisbon, ND died Sunday, November 11, 2018 with his son Rick by his side at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Dale was born April 26, 1934, the son of Edwin and Clara (Nelson) Froemke in Lisbon, ND.  He was raised on the family farm, attended country school in Big Ben Township and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1952.

Dale served in the National Guard, 188th field artillery unit from October 1953 to June 1955.  When his father Edwin passed away and brother Donald was killed in a farming accident on the farm Dale had to leave the unit to take over the farm.

Dale met his wife Ardis in Fargo, ND and they were married September 18, 1954, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lisbon.  They lived on the family farm and worked side by side growing various grain crops.  They also raised chickens, sheep, hogs, and his prized Angus cattle.

Dale loved his life on the farm and when he and Ardis retired in 2005 he started planting big gardens of squash, zucchini, pumpkins and gourds.  Every fall he would share the produce with family and friends and enjoyed visiting with folks around the county when out and about delivering the bounty. 

In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting and had a special bond with all his farm dogs and each one could be found by Dales side when working on the farm or on the golf cart driving around the farm yard. He enjoyed watching Nascar racing on tv and Dale Ernhardt Sr and Jr were his favorite drivers. He also watched high school and professional basketball on tv and followed the tournaments.  

Dale could repair most any of the machinery on the farm and liked to tinker with things and invent things, especially the automatic hay feeder.

Dale will be remembered as a man who loved the farm and all the hard work that went into it. He was so proud to have served his country and liked to follow the local and state politicians and appreciated his right to vote. He could be stubborn and strong willed and always enjoyed a good story.  He could be heard starting a conversation with “Let me tell you something”.

Dale is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ardis of Lisbon, ND, Son Rick (Nancy) of Wahpeton, ND, 6 grandchildren, Erica Froemke, Nicole (Nick) Majerus, Jenna (Tyson) Trosvik, Emily Wolf, Jason Wolf and Amy Wolf and 6 great grandchildren, Connor, Cameron and Caden Majerus, Adeline Trosvik, and Madyson and Jackson Riveland, his sister Phyllis Stave, Highlands Ranch, CO and 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald, his sister Dorothy Lein and his daughter Cheri Balken and son-in-law Eugene Balken. 

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon, ND
