Elga Mathilda (Wooddell) Weisgram, 99 of Lisbon, North Dakota died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon, North Dakota.
Elga was born in Windsor, ND to LeRoy and Cecilia (Dougherty) Wooddell on September 21, 1920.
Elga grew up on a farm by Eldridge, ND. She attended and graduated Valedictorian from Eldridge High School. During Elga’s Senior year she and her sister Evelyn were part of the basketball team that took the State Championship in 1937. After she graduated High School, she went to Beauty School in Bismarck, ND.
She met Joseph Weisgram at a dance in Jamestown and they were married on June 29th, 1941. Joe was in the Air Force, so they traveled around the states while he was training airplane mechanics. Elga worked in many various Beauty Shops during that time. They moved to Lisbon in 1945 for Joe to work in the Blacksmith Shop with his dad. They had three children, Joel, Doug, and Gaye. Once they were all in school, she opened and operated a Beauty Shop in her home for 48 years. She retired at the “young” age of 86. She lived in her home until she was almost 97, then moved to Parkside Lutheran Home.
Elga loved to cook and bake, especially at Christmas when she would make everyone’s favorite treats. She was a wonderful seamstress, gardener, and homemaker. As a mother and grandmother, she was always strong and supportive. She was an amazing grandmother always active in her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives.
Elga is survived by her sons, Joel (Kay) Weisgram of West Fargo, ND; Douglas (Margaret) Weisgram of Fox Island, WA; daughter, Gaye Wiltse of Lisbon, ND; eight grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Weisgram, Ryan (Jenn) Weisgram, Matthew Thorson, Troy (Jessica) Weisgram, Alissa Weisgram, Brandi Griffith, Buffee (Tony) Fischer, Dustin Wiltse; seventeen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Elga was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph (2005), son-in-law, Dan Wiltse, brother, Willis Wooddell and sister, Evelyn Tompkins.
