Ernest Arthur Klepetka, 82 of Lisbon, North Dakota died Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Parkside Lutheran Home with his family by his side.
Ernie was born on January 22, 1937, the son of Frank and Mary (Jirak) Klepetka in Lidgerwood, North Dakota. He was raised in rural Lidgerwood and graduated from Lidgerwood High School. Ernie farmed with his dad on the family farmstead until attending the Wahpeton School of Science to further his education. He was united in marriage to Dixie Haugen on August 21, 1965 at First Lutheran Church in Enderlin. After receiving his degree in Wahpeton, they moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where Ernie began his career with Ottertail Power. In 1975 they moved to Enderlin and in 1978, they moved to Lisbon where Ernie would eventually retire from Ottertail Power after 34 years.
Ernie enjoyed reading, walking, gardening and auction sales. He was also an avid sports fan. Ernie spent time in the fall tending to his apple trees in his yard, so he could make his wonderful apple sauce for his family to enjoy. He cherished time spent with his family and grandchildren.
Ernie will be missed by his loving wife, Dixie of Lisbon, ND; daughters, Denise Webb of Woodbury, MN; Annette (Jay) Kerr of Buckeye, AZ; Diana (Scott) Orn of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Christopher and Courtney Webb, Maddie and Mya Orn; sisters, Marcy Wahl of Mankato, MN; Alice Haugen of Fargo, ND; sisters-in-law, Beverly Klepetka of Aberdeen, SD; Diane Klepetka of Hankinson, ND and Marianne Klepetka of Traverse City, MI; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alma Orth, brothers Chester, Victor, Albert and Adolf.
