Estelle Mae Olson, 104 of Lisbon, North Dakota, formerly of Fort Ransom, North Dakota died on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon, North Dakota.
Estelle was born on June 23, 1913, the daughter of Reinert and Dora (Nilson) Emerson in rural Ward County, North Dakota. She was the ninth in the Emerson family of thirteen children. Their home was filled with laughter and hard work, each sibling reaping the reward of a dedicated and prayerful mother. Estelle was the last of her siblings to leave this earthly home for a heavenly one.
As a young girl, Estelle came to Ransom County to help her married sister and her family. She met a local farmer, Raymond Olson and they married in 1934. For may years they lived and worked on the farm where Ray was born.
Estelle was a member of Preston Lutheran Church and played an active role during Sodbuster Days operating a cook car for many years. She was an excellent seamstress and made numerous quilts in her later years that she donated to people in need. Estelle was also known for her baking, especially for her bread, donuts and pies.
Ray and Estelle retired from farming and moved to Prospect Manor in Lisbon in 2002. She and Ray had been married 71 years when he passed away in 2005.
Estelle is survived by her son, Jerry (Cynthia) Olson of Kathryn, ND; daughter, Jean (Bill) Pyne of Vancouver, WA; six grandchildren, Lori (Neil) Carpenter, Lynn (Randy) Larson, Craig (Bea) Olson, Kim (Greg) Myers) Kristin (Brian) Knight and Karlin Emerson; fourteen great-grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Estelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond (2005), son, Buddy Olson, five brothers and seven sisters.
Interment: Preston Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fort Ransom, ND
