Faye Clara Waloch, 79 of Gwinner, North Dakota died Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at CHI Oakes Hospital, Oakes, North Dakota.
Faye was born on February 28, 1940 to Fred and Della (Martin) Doerr in rural Englevale, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Englevale. Faye was united in marriage to Kenny Waloch on March 29, 1968 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gwinner. They made they home in Gwinner, where they owned and operated Waloch Café for many years. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her famous caramel rolls. She also mastered the art of baking and designing beautiful wedding and birthday cakes which she did for many years along with the daily operation of the café. Faye and Kenny also made a cook book listing many delicious meals and deserts that they served the community of Gwinner for so many years.
Faye also was an artist and sold many of her paintings throughout the United States. She was a master seamstress and also would knit and crochet. Faye enjoyed traveling, gardening, square dancing, camping, fishing and hunting, especially coon hunting. She was a licensed UKC Master of Hounds for many years, overseeing and judging the hunts. Faye was good at making wine and always made sure the cookie bucket was full in case any friends or family would stop by.
Faye is survived by her husband, Kenny Waloch of Gwinner, ND; son, Gerald (Shirley) Fuss of Gwinner, ND; daughters, Karleen (Michael) Heifort of Gwinner, ND; Shelli (Curtis) Colemer of Gwinner, ND and Shauna Waloch of Fargo, ND; honorary daughter, Verena Grentzenberg (Matthias Kirschnereit) of Hamburg, Germany, (who came to live with Faye and Kenny as a foreign exchange student from 1988-1989); thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents.
