Irene Saar, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018, at the North Dakota Veteran’s Home in Lisbon, North Dakota.
Irene was born on March 18th, 1923 to Frank and Emma (Manske) Kellerman. She was raised on a farm in rural Watson Township where she developed a lifelong love of farming. On September 16th, 1943, she married Harold Luther. Together they built a farm and raised a family in rural Enderlin, ND. After Harold’s passing in 1967, she continued to be active on the farm and remained strong for her family. On June 5th, 1971, she married Rienhold Saar with whom she enjoyed traveling and remaining active in the family farming operation with until their retirement in 1981.
Above all, Irene loved her family and was always there to care for them. She also enjoyed teaching ceramics, bowling, crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking, and a good laugh—she was wonderfully witty and was able to get a smile out of anyone. Irene, a devoted Christian, was also an active member of the Mary Circle and Trinity Lutheran Church, in Enderlin, ND.
Irene is survived by her three children, Larry (Bette) Luther, Ottawa, KS, LaNae (Dawn) Druen, Blue Springs, MO, Steve (Kathi) Luther, Enderlin, ND; sister, Eloise Baarstad, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Luther and Rienhold Saar; parents, Frank and Emma Kellerman; four sisters: Alice Torgerson, Violet Erbstoesser, Esther Arntson, and Lorraine Hanson; three brothers: Lawrence Kellerman, Clarence Kellerman, and Robert Kellerman; and granddaughter, Sara Luther.
Interment: Pontiac Cemetery, rural Enderlin, ND
