Joseph Andrew Laudert was born February 19, 1948 in Fargo, ND to Wallace and Grace (Olson) Laudert. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the home of his mother-in-law at rural LaMars Township, Richland County, Fairmount, ND on October 18, 2019. He was at her farm helping his brother-in-law Bruce with bean harvesting.
Joe graduated from Lisbon School in 1966. He did attend NDSCS in Wahpeton for awhile where he majored in Time & Space. Scott wasn’t sure if he went to classes. He married Paulette Anne Luick June 14, 1975 in Bismarck ND. Joe was a trucker for different companies over the years. He started with Bobcat in Bismarck in 1978 and moved back to Lisbon where he was transferred to Bobcat in Gwinner ND. He retired from trucking at Bobcat after working there for over 20 years.
Over the years Joe enjoyed deer hunting with friends and family, was involved in Boy Scouts with his two sons, Hunters Safety classes, was a member of the Back The Track group that helped build a running track for the Lisbon School, Relay for Life, received his license to be a Pyrotechnic Maniac, was a lifetime member of the Ransom County Fair Association and has worked as a starter for many years for junior high and high school track meets. He became a track official with the USATF association and worked many regional, college and NCAA track meets. He also helped with the fall bean and corn harvest at his in-law’s farm for many years. He was also involved in what is known as the Seniors Golf Tour (old guys golfing group).
Joe’s highlight this summer was enjoying the wedding of his son Benjamin to Krystal Olson in August of this year.
Joe is survived by his wife Paulette and son Benji (Krystal) and grandson Avery. He is also survived by his two brothers, Scott (Marva) of Woodland, CO and Marty (Cheryl) of Fairbanks, AK. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Marlene Luick of Fairmount, ND, in laws Harry & Susan Hoyt (Abilene, TX), Joe Heger & Lisa Jaixen (Wahpeton, ND), Artie Luick (Kindred, ND), Tim & Lynnette Matejcek (Fairmount, ND), Bruce and Brenda Luick (Fairmount, ND), Janet Grefe of Fargo ND, many nieces and nephews, also Avery’s mother Kathy and sisters Brinley and Blake.
Joe is preceded in death by his son Andrew from Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 1996, father-in-law Artie B Luick, mother Grace, father Wallace, sister-in-law Sheila Heger, nephews Michael & Adam.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Ransom County Fair Association or Oakwood Cemetery Association.
