Joseph "Joe" E. Bartholomay

  Joseph (Joe) E. Bartholomay, age 90, passed away on Sunday May 27th at the Lisbon (ND) Hospital.

  Joe was born on February 13, 1928 in rural Sheldon, ND to Ervin and Grace (Becker) Bartholomay. Joe graduated from Sheldon High School in 1947 and lived his entire life in the Sheldon area, until entering the nursing home at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND in the fall of 2014. He married Marian J. Larson on October 18, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sheldon, ND. In 1957, they moved to their home farm on the Maple River north of Sheldon. There they milked cows and raised kids, cattle, pigs, horses and many crops. In 1997, they moved to their newly constructed house near Sheldon.

  Joe was passionate about family, farming, sports, and his Arabian horses. Joe and Marian traveled extensively to visit their far-flung children, relatives and to attend Arabian horse shows. He was a long time Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan to the extent of purchasing his first color TV to watch the Vikings in their first Super Bowl appearance. He finally won a Super Bowl when his allegiance switched to Carson Wentz’s team. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play numerous sports.

  Joe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, North Dakota Arabian Horse Association and the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association.

  Joe is survived by children: Keith (Sandi), Sheldon; Kent (Sandy) Enderlin; Ross (Kelly), Muldrow, OK; Max (Evonne), Jordan, MN; Marna Wallace, Pocatello, ID; Roy (Darcy), Pocatello, ID; Jay (Sheila), Sheldon; James (Wendy), Bowman, ND; and Roger (Melanie), Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his brother Ralph (Connie), Enderlin and sister Marlene (Gary) Boyer, Carrington, ND; 24 grandkids, 7 step grandkids, and 10 step Great grandkids.

 Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marian (2015), brothers, George, Robert, Ray, Ronald, and Martin, granddaughter, Ann and son-in-law, Steve Wallace.   

Interment: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sheldon, ND
