Karen was born on March 1, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She and her family lived in Erie, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma before moving to Lisbon in 1973. Karen was one of nine children, seven brothers and one sister.

Together they had two boys, Travis and Nickolas which were the loves of her life. Karen had a special love for children, which eventually turned into a eighteen year career, running a day care from her home. For the past seventeen years, Karen has made the daily trip to Lisbon to help provide therapy and care for her youngest son, Nick who is a resident at CHI Health Swing Bed Unit as a result of an accident in 2002. She has dedicated her life to helping others.

Karen had a special connection with her God and took time daily to read from the Bible. She was very active in the Standing Rock Lutheran Church and ladies’ group. Karen was blessed with two grandchildren, Cole and Millie. They would continually get a special package or letter from their Grandma Karen, who loved them very much.
