Leila Esther (Wadeson) Anderson

Leila Esther (Wadeson) Anderson, 91, a lifelong resident of the Enderlin, North Dakota area, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.

Leila was born at 6:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 1927 to Oscar and Esther (Godfredsen) Wadeson, at the home of her paternal grandparents in rural Fingal, North Dakota.

On May 30th, 1946, Leila graduated from Enderlin High School. She then attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. Leila worked for Kemp’s Tire Company in Fargo as a bookkeeper until she married her soulmate, Vernon J. Anderson on Sunday, August 2nd, 1953 at First Lutheran Church in Enderlin.

Leila and Vernon were married for 64+ years until Vernon’s Death on October 20, 2017. Leila and Vernon have three children: Cassel (Denny) Everson, Janis D. Anderson, and Dean (Deb) Anderson.

Leila was an amazing and strong woman who not only cared for her husband, children, and home but was a dedicated volunteer in the Enderlin area. She taught Sunday School for decades as well as volunteering in almost every other aspect of her church, First Lutheran. She was a member of the GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs) working tirelessly on their blood drives as well as donating several gallons of blood herself. She was a member of the Hillcrest/Maryhill Manor Auxiliary, and a volunteer for Enderlin’s HEART (Helping Enderlin Area Residents Thrive) Program. In 2004, Leila was the recipient of the Enderlin Recognition Award for Volunteer of the Year.

Leila’s smile, generous character and love for her family will sustain them as they cherish and celebrate her life.

Surviving Leila are her children, Cassel, Janis, and Dean (Deb). Her grandchildren, Robin (Emily), Brenna, Emma (Moneer), Cullen, (Mikaela Jayne Martin), Kami (Sean), and Kaitlin. Her great-grandchildren, Jake, Lexi, and Finch. Leila’s survivors also include many beloved nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Bea (Elmer) Anderson and Betty (Jewel) Wadeson.

Preceding Leila in death were her husband, Vernon, her parents, Oscar and Esther Wadeson, her brothers, Lyle and Jewel and her son-in-law, Dennis Everson.
