Marion Doreen (Cole) Johnson

Marion D. Johnson, 92, died on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Beverly Anne Assisted Living, Lisbon, North Dakota under the care of CHI Home Health and Hospice.

Marion was born on April 29, 1926, the daughter of Donald and Cora (Gunderson) Cole in Lisbon, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Lisbon. As a young woman at the age of 18, Marion ventured off to beauty school in Chicago and later to NDSU where she met her future husband, Glen Johnson. Once married, they made their home in Kirkland, Washington where they raised their three children. Marion worked at Safeway Grocery for forty-two years. She and Glen eventually retired to Indio, CA. After Glen passed away, she remarried Alvin Miller in her later years. After Alvin’s death she moved to Lisbon in 2014 and enjoyed the opportunity to be back with family.

Marion enjoyed bridge, golf and traveling the world. She cherished adventure and fun with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren.

Marion is survived by her children, Mark Johnson of Sandpoint ID; Scott (Jana) Johnson of Sammamish, WA; Jill (John) Welker of Denton, TX; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Duane and Robert Cole both of Lisbon, ND; sisters, Joan (Allen) Peterson of Milnor, ND and Lois (Charles) Anderson of Phoenix, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, sister, Lorelle Caddell and brother, Donald Cole. Sister-in-law's Lorna and Millie Cole and brother-in-law, Joe Caddell.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Marion's children would like to thank her siblings, Joan (Allen), Duane (Millie) & Robert who constantly visited and cared for mom during her last years in Lisbon and for Beverly Ann Assisted living for unbelievable care and love right to the end. Our mom loved her home town roots and wanted to come back to this great place!
