Milton Darrel Schimming “Ole” was born on August 23, 1931, to Eric and Helen Schimming of rural Leonard, ND. He grew up in the Enderlin-Sheldon area. He enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. After his service, he returned to his home at the Frank and Violet Erbstrosser farm where he worked as a farm hand before he moved to the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon, ND.
He loved music, dancing and cruising the countryside. He always had a smile on his face and was very easy going. He loved visiting with people!
Milt died peacefully on December 26, 2018 under the care of hospice of the red river valley and the wonderful staff of the ND Veterans Home.
He is survived by nieces, Shirley Pfaff(Fargo), Carol Klein(Valley City), and Janet Loomer, Sheldon, and other nieces and nephews too numerous to list!
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Roger and Lester; sisters; Maxine Michelson, Lorraine Janz, Marge Jacobson, Elaine Groth, and baby sister Janet.
Memorial Service will be Friday, May 17, 2019 at the ND Veteran’s Home Chapel at 11:00 am with burial to follow at the Leonard Cemetery, Leonard, ND.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Veteran’s home and hospice of the Red River Valley for their excellent care of Milton in his declining health! You are wonderful caring people and we appreciate every one of you!
