Richard A. Miller, 79 of Enderlin, North Dakota died Wednesday, August 15, 2108 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin, North Dakota.
Dick was born on June 1, 1939 the son of Clarence and Alma (Hemstad) Miller Sr. in Nome, North Dakota. His family moved to California for a short time and later returned to Enderlin where Dick graduated from high school in 1956. He was united in marriage to Jane Wolf on October 13, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enderlin. Dick worked at his father’s service station until he sold it. He then started his own garage and later a wrecking yard. He owned and operated Miller’s Service for 60 years.
Dick start his racing career in 1960 at the Red River Valley Dragway in Fargo. He rekindled his oval racing desire in 1963 and continued to racing until 1995 when he retired. His passion and skill for racing helped him find his way to victory lane many times. Dick raced sometimes six nights a week. He was inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in Grand Forks and in Lisbon. In addition to his love for racing, he also enjoyed pool, bowling and gardening.
Dick is survived by his wife, Jane Miller of Enderlin, ND; son, Scott (Patty) Miller of Enderlin, ND; daughter, Linda Miller of Enderlin, ND; two grandsons, Jeremiah (Caroline) Miller and John (Nicole) Miller; six great-grandchildren, Riley, Jackson, Anna, Madison, Colton and Kaytlynn; sisters, Marjorie Oppeggard of Brooklyn Park, MN; Dorothy Miller of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Donald (Connie) Miller of Enderlin, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clarence Miller Jr.
