Rodney (Rocky) William Rondestvedt, 71, of Lisbon, North Dakota, passed away, February 5, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.
Rodney was born October 5, 1947 in Hannaford, North Dakota to Bernard and Virginia Rondestvedt. He graduated from North Central of Barnes High School in 1966 and on November 29,1968, he married his High School sweetheart, Charlene Werner.
Rodney lived every day of his life with kindness, patience, and love while working hard to support his family. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed trail walks, gardening, bird watching, and camping with his family- usually off the beaten path. He loved sports and was a loyal supporter of Minnesota teams like the Vikings and Timberwolves. Rodney had an artistic mind and if he wasn’t creatively fixing something or inventing a new way to complete a task, he enjoyed painting rooms with unique designs, perfecting his stained-glass crosses, or refurbishing furniture. He had a heart for helping and did so every chance he got with his children, neighbors, and friends. In fact, he kept extra tools just in case anyone needed to borrow something. Rodney had a number of life-long friends who he recently worked with to renovate the community hall in his hometown of Dazey, North Dakota. He enjoyed every minute he got with his nine grandchildren and even toward the very end, made them laugh and smile. Rodney was truly the sweetest man with a heart of gold and an optimism that will forever be missed.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Charlene Rondestvedt; along with four children; Nichole Hilgert (Chris Hilgert) of Houston, Texas, Roxanne Rondestvedt (Brandon Custard) of Hawley, Minnesota, Marcus Rondestvedt (LaTina Rondestvedt) of Lisbon, North Dakota, and Bethany Foyt (Eric Foyt) of Lisbon, North Dakota; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Hilgert, Macey Sarbaum, John Hilgert, Andi Sarbaum, Camden Rondestvedt, Bella McAlpine, Evelynn Foyt, Rivers Rondestvedt, and Madilynn Foyt; two brothers, Tim Rondestvedt (Patti Rondestvedt) and Roger Rondestvedt (Cathy Rondestvedt); and many loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Preceded in death by his mother, Virginia and father, Bernard, brother John Rondestvedt and sister Penelope Dahl, two nephews, Tohn Dahl and Shawn Rondestvedt.
