Sandra K. (Sulerud) Bergemann of Lisbon, North Dakota passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Elim Care Center, Fargo, North Dakota under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She was 73 years old and had battled numerous health issues for the last 10 years. She fought with remarkable strength, spirit and passion until the very end.
Sandra was born on April 14, 1945, in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Earl and Helen (Pederson) Sulerud. She lived in Ellendale, North Dakota and moved to Lisbon with her family, when she was 6 months old. Sandra was raised and educated in Lisbon, graduating from Lisbon High School in 1963. She went on to attend NDSU for a year and a half, then started working at Bobcat in 1965. Sandra married Ronald Bergemann on July 16, 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon. She continued to work at Bobcat until 1967, when she decided to stay at home on the farm helping with the daily chores and raising their two children. Sandra also worked at Kelsen’s Bold Venture for a few years. During their retirement years they enjoyed spending the winters in Arizona.
Sandra taught Sunday School, was a member of LWML, Ladies Aide of Bale Township, 4-H leader and secretary/treasurer of the Ransom County Farmer’s Union.
Sandra enjoyed playing organ at church, playing piano, painting ceramics, puzzles, sewing and crossword puzzles. She had a love for animals and would nurse them back to health if needed. Sandra was a very proud grandmother and cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Bergemann of Lisbon, ND; daughter, Heidi (Reuben) Willis of West Fargo, ND; son, Daniel (Tracy) Bergemann of rural Lisbon, ND; seven grandchildren, Nate and Josh Willis, Nicholas, Colton and Ashlyn Bergemann, Autumn and Garrett Harland; brother, Duane(Flora) Sulerud of Horseshoe, AR; brother-in-law, Duane (Shelly) Bergemann of Gwinner, ND; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Leroy) Putman of Alexandria, MN and Gail Bergemann of Lisbon, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Dennis Bergemann and infant granddaughter, Elisa Willis.
Interment: Zion Cemetery, Gwinner, ND
