Verlin Richard Strand

Verlin R. Strand, 83 of rural Nome, North Dakota died Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon, North Dakota.

Verlin was born on November 28, 1934 the son of Nels and Clara (Green) Strand in Nome, North Dakota. He attended Birklid Country School in rural Ransom County. Verlin began to help his father farm on the family homestead at a very young age. His love for farming remained with him his entire life. Verlin married Shirley Stone on February 14, 1989 in Britton, South Dakota. Together they continued to run the farm until their retirement.

Verlin enjoyed dancing, NASCAR, playing cards, trips to the casino and supporting the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He was a generous kind-hearted man.

Verlin is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Strand of Nome, ND; step son, Steve Stone of Minneapolis, MN; brother-in-law, Junior Holland of California, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Verlin was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lonna Holland and brother, Marlin Strand.
