Vivian Josephine Bjerke, 100 of Lisbon, North Dakota formerly of Enderlin, North Dakota died Monday, December 3, 2018 at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon, North Dakota.
Vivian Skramstad was born on October 6, 1918 in Raritan Township to C. Palmer and Wilhelmina (Anderson) Skramstad. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Nome, where she was a lifelong member. Vivian was a member of the St. Petri WELCA and also taught Sunday School. Vivian attended Raritan School thru 8th grade and graduated from Enderlin High School in 1936. She worked at the bank in Nome during WWII, and during this time she met Simon Bjerke. They were married on September 18, 1947. They made their home in Valley City until moving to a farm on the Sand Prairie south of Kathryn. In the fall of 1949, they moved to the farm in Raritan Township, where they would live and farm for the next 58 years. Vivian was a member of the Raritan Homemakers Club and a 4-H leader. In 2007, they moved to an apartment in Enderlin and in November of 2011 they moved to the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon. Simon passed away in May of 2012 and Vivian continued living at the North Dakota Veterans Home until her passing.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Kathy Carr of Colfax, WA; three sons, Myron (Grace) of Aberdeen, SD; Dale (Lori) of Page, ND; Steve of Enderlin, ND; seven grandchildren, Megan (Gabe) Brannan, Mallory Carr, Mike Bjerke, Savanah (Josh) Stibal, Krista (Preston) Steele, Erin Bjerke and Kylie Bjerke; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Simon, one grandson, Ryan Carr, three brothers, Lester, Arne and Merlin Skramstad, and one sister, Clarice Schlecht.
Interment: St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, Nome, ND
