Elwood L. Claus, 85 of Lisbon, North Dakota died Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at CHI Lisbon Health, Lisbon, North Dakota.
Elwood was born on December 19, 1934, the son of Wilmar and Lillian (Beccue) Claus in rural Sargent County, North Dakota on the family farm. He attended country school and helped on the family farm. Elwood was united in marriage to Donna Hanna on September 6, 1958 in Lisbon. He also began his career at Bobcat in 1958 and started as a welder. Early in his Melroe career he purchased the Melroe vending machine business and expanded the operation. He welded for ten years and then worked in Quality Control until his retirement in 1997. Donna passed away in December of 2008. Elwood eventually met Darline Levang and they married on October 24, 2009 in Lisbon.
Elwood enjoyed fishing, especially the fishing trips to Canada. He also enjoyed hunting, dancing and traveling. Elwood loved being a husband, father and grandfather, but most of all he loved the Lord. He was a devoted longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in Lisbon.
Elwood is survived by his wife, Darline of Lisbon, ND; sons, Steven (Jennifer) Christenson of Mound, MN; Jeff (Chris) Ekeren of Audubon, MN; daughters, Valorie (Roger) Lukes, Vickie (Dennis) Wallner and Julie (Ross) Cole all of Lisbon, ND; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian Halvorson of Milnor, ND; brother, Glen Claus of Wahpeton, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
Elwood was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Donna, siblings, Evelyn Nelson, Merlin Claus, Sylvia Colby and Norma Albin, daughter Jane Ekeren.
Visitation: Friday, December 11, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, ND.
Private Family Service: Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon, ND.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon, ND
