Emma Elizabeth (Essert) Schatzke

Emma Elizabeth (Essert) Schatzke, 89, of Fargo, North Dakota died on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Villa Maria in Fargo, North Dakota.

Emma was born on July 8, 1930, the daughter of Christina Nagel and Joe Essert in Walker, South Dakota.

Emma was raised and educated in the Enderlin area. She married Ralph Schatzke Sr. on February 23, 1950 in Fargo. They made their home in rural Leonard, where they farmed for many years. They eventually made their home in Fargo.

Emma enjoyed reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, word searches and watching western movies, especially her favorite, John Wayne films.

Emma is survived by four sons, Ralph Jr. (Becky) Schatzke of Leonard, ND; Wesley (Michelle) Schatzke of Leonard, ND; Ronald (Bonnie) Schatzke of Fargo, ND; Steven (Kimberly) Schatzke of Kindred, ND; daughter-in-law, Debra Schatzke of Leonard, ND; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Sr. (2008), daughter, Judy (Larry) Downs, sons, David and Gregory Schatzke.

Private services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, ND.

Interment: Salem Cemetery, rural Enderlin, ND
