Howard Stanley Hoff, 77, of Lisbon, ND passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Howard was born in Fargo, ND on December 3, 1942 to Phillip and Ingrid (Christianson) Hoff. Howard was raised and educated in Lisbon, and joined the North Dakota National Guard after graduating from High School in 1960. He began his career as a driver, hauling fuel oil for Cenex/Farmers union Oil. He owned Hoff Tree Services, working during the spring and fall seasons, and was a partner in Fort Ransom Ski Area and Fort Corral. Howard rode saddle bronc and was very active with the Fort Ransom Arena Association. In the sixties, Howard started with the Custer Memorial 7th Calvary Reenactment, which eventually led to his acting career. In the nineties, he appeared in Far and Away, Geronimo, Return to Lonesome Dove, Postman, Crazy Horse, Buffalo Girls and Lakota Woman.
Howard married Wilma Schuessler on November 22, 1975 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon and they had four children; Nikki (Aaron) Hardebeck, Heather (Mike) Thompson, Tyler (Stephanie) Hoff and Ryan Hoff all of Lisbon, ND. They later divorced. Howard is survived by all of his children, his sister Marilyn Sorby of Fort Ranson, ND, his grandchildren Savanna (Joel) Traub, Emily Hardebeck, Nolan Hardebeck, Andrew Hardebeck, Taylor Rosborough, Jaden Hoff, Keziah Hoff, Alyssa Hoff, Tyrig Atchison, Deagan Thompson, Isaac Hoff, Izabella Hoff, Haydyn Hoff, Briar Hoff, honorary grandchildren Destiny Rosborough, Lidia McCleary and Evelyn McCleary, and two nieces Angie Stetson and Julie (Matt) Engen. Howard was a gentle soul who was a beloved grandfather and honorary grandfather to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Curtis Sorby.
