James Franklin Diemert, 74 of Lisbon, North Dakota died Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the VA Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota.
Jim was born on December 9, 1945 to Romaine and Joyce (Franklin) Diemert in Valley City, North Dakota. He attended country school in Island Lake, North Dakota and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1963. Jim enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1963 and received an honorable discharge in 1966.
After returning from the service he attended Valley City State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. After college he worked at Enterprise Sales in Valley City and later worked as a cook at various restaurants in Fargo. In 1999, Jim moved to Lisbon, where he resided at the North Dakota Veterans Home until his death.
Jim enjoyed driving his motorcycle, watching the races at Lisbon and NASCAR on tv.
Jim is survived by his children, Jay (Christine) Diemert of Jamestown, ND; Jenny (Troy Meidinger) Elton of Valley City, ND; Kevin Mohagen of Cavalier, ND; Justin (Maggie) Diemert of Moorhead, MN; sixteen grandchildren and Seventeen great-grandchildren; siblings, Jack (Helen) Diemert of Fargo, ND; Janice (Bernard) Piatz of Cooperstown, ND; Juanita (Ted) Newbury of Sanborn, ND; Tony (Jane) Diemert of Valley City, ND; Janelle Diemert of Fargo, ND; Jerald (Kandi) Diemert of West Fargo, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, two nieces, one nephew and three great-nieces.
