James L Gilbert

James L. Gilbert, 93, of Enderlin died on November 8, 2020 at Maryhill Manor, in Enderlin, North Dakota, surrounded by his family, Marthanna. Jim was born on November 4, 1927, to Lyndon and Rose (Haecherl) Gilbert in Lisbon, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Lisbon, and helped on the family farm until he moved to Enderlin, where he worked for an area farmer.  He married Marthanna Fraedrich on October 10, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where they remained active members. They made their home South East of Enderlin, where they farmed and raised their children, Nancy, Kathy, Tim and Julie. They moved into Enderlin in 2012. Jim was a charter member of the Enderlin Lyons Club.

He is survived by his wife Marthanna, Enderlin, his children: Nancy (Paul) Deutsch of Watford City, North Dakota, Kathy (K.C.) Lewis of Sheldon, North Dakota, Tim (Nancy) Gilbert of Creston, Iowa, ten grandchildren: Robin (Dan) Holt, Brian Deutsch, Stephanie (Derek) Robinson, Sara (Eric) Vangsness, Lori (Ryan) Huber, Carmen Bartholomay, Heather (Ryan) Burwell, Cody Gilbert, Garrett (Brittany) Rosenberry, Karley Rosenberry, ten great grandchildren, sister, Winifred Vogel of Lisbon, brother-in-law Theodore Fraedrich of Coon Rapids, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death buy his parents, a daughter Julie Rosenberry, son-in-law Jeff Bartholomay, grandsons Jeffrey Gilbert and Dustin Gilbert and brother John Gilbert.

A private family service will be held on Thursday. Nov 12, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Enderlin.
