Jerrold Roger Olson of Lisbon, North Dakota passed away on Aug 3, 2020 at Parkside Lutheran Home in Lisbon, North Dakota.
Jerry “Ole” Olson was born June 30, 1934 to John and Evelyn (Lindholm) Olson in Lisbon. He grew up on the farm southeast of Lisbon and attended Lisbon High School.
Jerry married Janice (Osier) Olson May 14, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon. They moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1956, where he worked for Red Owl and also worked on a hobby farm in Corcoran MN, which he loved. They later moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1971, where he worked for Alaska Truss and Millwork. Jerry and Jan enjoyed Alaska’s beautiful scenery and fishing on the Kenai River. They moved to Soldotna in 1983. Jerry loved salmon fishing, canning and smoking it (the best smoked salmon you could find). In 1996, Jerry and Jan moved to Apache Junction, AZ where they spent their retirement years. After the death of his beloved wife Janice in 2013, Jerry spent 4 more years in AZ. Due to declining health Jerry returned to Lisbon where he resided at the Beverly Anne Assisted Living. He then moved to Parkside Lutheran Home where he resided until his death.
Jerry is survived by his daughter Dawn Olson, Sandy, Utah, one brother, Curtis (Lorna) Olson, Homer, AK one sister, Jan (Duane) Hanson, Lisbon, ND, three grandchildren, Keith Silvasey, and Ashley and Joshua Rogers of Sandy, UT and special friend, Otis Rogers, several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; son, Scott; daughter, Lona; his granddaughter, Nutaaq Silvasey; his parents and grandparents.
Jerry loved to fish as often as he possibly could. Having a “toddie” with all of the friends he made. He loved people and could bring a smile to every one’s face.
He will be missed dearly by all of his friends and family. May he rest in the eternal peace of our Lord.
