John M. Larson

John Martin Larson (85) of Lisbon, North Dakota passed away peacefully at Parkside Lutheran Home on March 15, 2021.

John was born June 27th 1935, to John and Anna Larson.  He attended Oakes Public Schools. John married Vivian Elaine Olson on August 30, 1959 in Lisbon, North Dakota.  John and Vivian made Gwinner their home and it is where they raised three daughters.  While in Gwinner, John was employed at Bobcat as an assembler and welder for 17 years.  John also owned and operated John’s Construction for over 30 years.  John and Vivian moved to Lisbon, North Dakota in 1988.  Throughout the years, John provided maintenance for apartment buildings in the area ran by Region V/SENDCA.  In addition, John owned and ran VJ’s Laundromat in Lisbon, North Dakota.

John was an active member at Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church in Gwinner, North Dakota and Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon, North Dakota.  John was also a Sergeant of Arms of the Local 560 Union at Bobcat in Gwinner, North Dakota.  Additionally, John was a long-time member of the Gwinner GCDC.  While living in Lisbon, John served on the board of the Ransom County Senior Center.

John is survived by his wife Vivian Larson of Lisbon, ND; three daughters, Kimberly Penberthy of Lisbon, ND, Peggy Bruflat (Patrick) of New London, MN, and Kathy Wolsky (Scott) of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Coltyn and Jena Penberthy, Stephanie and Derek Koenen, Bryar and Samantha Penberthy, Brandi Hansen, Marcus Bruflat, and Kodi Hansen; step-grandchild Jena Lovaas; five great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; one brother, Don Larson, Bismarck, ND.

John is preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Paula Kay Larson; brothers, Robert Larson, Charles Larson, Alvin Larson and Kenny Larson; sisters, Alice Hurt, Margaret Rodine, June Stroh, and Shirley Daley.
