Mae Altman, 96 of Lisbon, North Dakota, died Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin, North Dakota.
Mae Maggie Peterson was born to Carl and Maggie (Egge) Peterson on March 27, 1924. She grew up in Dickey, North Dakota in LaMoure County. Mae attended elementary and high school in Dickey. After graduating from high school, she attended Valley City State College where she majored in teaching. Mae taught for two years at Casey #2 rural Lisbon. The first year she taught there, she taught primary grades and the second year, Mae was the only teacher in the school.
After teaching at the Casey School for a while, she met and married Allen Altman. They were married on August 5, 1944. Mae and Allen farmed northeast of Lisbon. They were married for twenty-six years when Allen died.
After leaving the farm in January of 2011, Mae moved to the Beverly Anne Assisted Living in Lisbon and in December of 2016, she made her home at the Maryhill Manor in Enderlin.
Mae is survived by her children, Jan (Larry) Weigel of Horace, ND; Barb Altman and Betty Jo Tostenson of Fargo, ND; Bruce of Lisbon, ND; and Duaine of Leonard, ND; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Allen, brothers, Ted and Calvin Peterson, sisters, Jane Else, Josephine Haakenson, Olive Buss and Luetta Cofell.

Private services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2020 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, ND.
Interment: Anselm Cemetery, rural Sheldon, ND.
