After a long struggle we lost a wonderful woman, Marion Doris Thompson, 95 of Sheldon, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin, ND.
Marion was born on March 15, 1923 to Clark and Minnie (Bjugstad) Douglas in rural Ransom County, North Dakota. She graduated from Sheldon High School and then attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. Marion was united in marriage to Gene Thompson on October 17, 1942. They lived southeast of Sheldon, where they farmed for several years. In 1959, they moved to Sheldon and Marion helped run the family trucking business. She had many jobs during her lifetime. Besides driving truck to haul cattle to market, she cooked at the school, drove school bus, worked at Morrey’s Steakhouse and also helped at the Sheldon Grocery owned by Brush and Toddie Spiekermeier. Marion eventually purchased the grocery store and ran it for several years until her retirement.
Marion will be missed dearly by her family. She was known for her cooking, baking, and gathering all the family at her home for the holidays.
Marion is survived by her three sons, David (Judy) Thompson; Dennis (Cheryl) Thompson and Donald (Carol) Thompson; ten grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Geno, daughter, Donna “Suze” Olson and son, Doyle “Feezer” Thompson.
