Robert Berg Obituary

Robert Allen Berg of Lisbon, North Dakota died Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon, North Dakota.

Bob was born on November 24, 1932 the son of Alfred and Hazel (Jacobsen) Berg in Harvey, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Harvey, graduating in 1950   and joined the National Guard. Bob then attended UND until he was drafted to serve in the United States Army. He married Janet Brauer and they made their home in Harvey, where they owned and operated Berg’s Variety Store for many years. They later divorced and Bob lived in Minnesota in the summer and Mesa, Arizona in the winter.

Bob enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, riding minibikes, and camping. Especially organizing many camping trips with family and friends. He enjoyed drives in his Lincoln Town Car putting many miles on, as he drove the countryside.

Bob was proud of his 35 years of sobriety. He made friends wherever he went and everyone knew him by his big loud voice. He loved to dance, play cards and socialize. He has resided at the North Dakota Veterans Home for the last ten years, where he loved his home and his extended family.

Bob is survived by his five children, Jeanne (Rod) Engelking; Marilyn (Grover) Hansen both of West Fargo, ND; Betty (Curt) Krahler of Fessenden, ND; Robert (Karla) Berg of Bismarck, ND; Susan Wangen of West Fargo, ND; twelve grandchildren, Kristin (Micah) Frost, Ronnie (Erika) Engelking, Timothy Engelking, Trisha (Mark) Fraaze, Erik Hansen, Justin Krahler, Bobbie Jo (Ryan) Larson, Jaime (Jake) Younker, Brittany Schlosser, Michael Berg, Chelsea (Will) Partlow, Devon Wangen; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Wierenga of Grand Rapids, MI; special friend, Vera Gish of Alexandria, MN.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Amanda Engelking.

Masks and social distancing are required for those attending the service.
