Robert "Bob" McRitchie Obituary

Robert William McRitchie, 85 of Sheldon, North Dakota died on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Bob was born on March 13, 1935, the son of Peter and Olga (Schultz) McRitchie in Ransom County, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in rural Ransom County (Sheldon township).

As a young man, he helped his dad on the farm, raising cows, sheep, pigs and horses until purchasing his own ranch, ranching his entire life. He served on the board of directors and served as past president of the Sheyenne National Grasslands Grazing Association, was active as a leader in 4-H and was an active member and served as president of the Eagles Club in Lisbon.

He especially enjoyed his horses. In his younger years, he could often be found at the rodeos, and won the saddle bronc division at the Fort Ransom Rodeo at the age of 40. He bought, trained and sold horses and was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He also loved to coon hunt with his beloved coon dogs. He was the stock contractor for many Little Britches rodeos in the area. He was a charter member of the Broken Spur Saddle Club and a founding member of the 7th Calvary in Fort Ransom.

He married Ruby Williamson on October 27, 1956 who survives, along with 2 sons, Rob (Jill) of Lisbon, North Dakota, Todd of West Fargo, and a daughter Jacquelyn (Tom) Campbell of Sanborn, North Dakota. He is also survived by five granddaughters, LaTina (Marcus) Rondestvedt, LaRissa (Tim) Burner, Samantha (Casey) Formaneck, Natalie Kiefer, and Nicole McRitchie, nine great grandchildren, two sisters, Sharon Haare of Rush City, Minnesota and Sandy Mc Ritchie of Blaine, Minnesota and brothers-in-law, Gene Jaster of Greensboro, Pennsylvania, Curt (Artie) Williamson of Dix, Nebraska and Clyde (Peggy) Williamson of Valley City, North Dakota, Gary Williamson of Omaha, Nebraska.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bernard McRitchie and his sister, Marilyn Jaster.

Visitation will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home in Lisbon, North Dakota on Friday, July 17th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 18th at 10:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon, North Dakota. You are invited to join the family following the funeral service at Sandager Park Pavilion, Lisbon, North Dakota.  Social distancing and masks are welcome as you are comfortable at all services.
