Thomas Wesley Dunn, 76 of Lisbon, North Dakota formerly of Williston, North Dakota died on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon, North Dakota.
Tom was born on June 6, 1943, the son of Charles and Nellie (Muri) Dunn in Watford City, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Watford City. As a young man, Tom enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during his time of service. In 1975, he married Elizabeth Sundsvold in Glendive, Montana. Elizabeth passed away in 1978, just a few weeks after giving birth to their son, Jarod. Tom and his son moved to Tioga and Carrington before making their home in Ogilvie, Minnesota. He taught Jarod how to play baseball and was Jarod baseball coach for many years. Tom was a well-respected coach in the area. He also enjoyed playing video games with his son and playing an active role in his son’s life.
In, 2003 Tom moved to Williston and worked as a welder in the oil industry. He moved to the North Dakota Veterans Home in 2014. Tom was a loyal Minnesota Twins fan, and enjoyed collecting replica model tractors and taking photos of old barns, churches and cars.
Tom is survived by his loving son, Jarod (Vivian) Dunn of Ham Lake, MN; three grandchildren, Lucille Elizabeth Dunn, Lily Ann Dunn and Ari Thomas Dunn; two sisters, Charlene (Ron) Torgerson of Watertown, SD; Darlene Hill of Worland, WY; numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth, two brothers, Richard and Francis Dunn, sister, Ramona Dibble.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ogilvie, MN.
