Virgil Jerome Olson, 77, left his ailing body behind and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on March 14, 2019. His final wish came true- he spent his last days at home surrounded by his family. He was well known for the loves of his life: people (most of all his family), music, nature, cooking, and the Green Bay Packers.
Virgil loved to chat and made connections everywhere he went. He was immensely proud of all of his children and grandchildren. We know he is rejoicing to be reunited with his parents, Ole and Olga Olson, and his brother, Vincent Olson, who preceded him in death. It would not be fitting to omit his much- missed canine companion, Dottie the Dachshund, from the list of those he is joining in heaven. Virgil is survived by his loving wife Nadine, his daughters Denise Clewell (Dwayne) and Nicole Haselberger (Michael), his sons Shane (Heather), and Paul (Amber), and his seven grandchildren: Dominic, Aaron, Danielle, Ashlan, Audrey, Emery, and Lael.
Virgil blessed many people with his beautiful voice and the guitar skills he honed over a lifetime. He was an avid hunter, fisher, and lover of nature. He enjoyed cooking for people and seeing them appreciate his meals. Virgil was proud of being a lifelong Packer fan and enjoyed the many conversations the big green and gold “G” tattoo on his forearm brought about- both from fellow fans and rivals. We know he will be using any influence he has in the unseen realm to further their success, if possible. Go Pack Go!
What some people may not have known if they didn’t have the opportunity to hear him sing about it was the depth of Virgil’s faith in Jesus. He seldom spoke much about it, but his trust in God’s love strengthened and sustained him in his final illness. We look forward to seeing him again in his resurrection body- cancer-free and “wonderful, just wonderful” as he would say.
